This site serves as an information portal for the family tree of Gerrit van der Linde and his descendants in South Africa. Both this site and family tree are maintained by his direct descendants (see the “Who We Are” page for more information).
The photo above is that of Jan Johannes van der Linde (A1B3C10D1E3F4), born 1857, one of our direct ancestors.
The foundational information contained within the family tree came from a variety of sources found online. The information was captured in plain-text / raw formats and had to be painstakingly converted, with custom programming and data manipulation techniques into an electronic format which could be understood by genealogical programs (see the “Our Work So Far” page for more information).
We then added, by hand, information and photos collected over many years by my father, Jan (B3C10D1E3F4G7H2I1). It is still a work in progress.

Die foto hierbo is die van Jan Johannes van der Linde (A1B3C10D1E3F4), gebore 1857, een van ons direkte voorouers.
Die fondamentele inligting in hierdie stamboom vind hul oorsprong in ‘n verskeidenheid bronne, insluitende openbare inligting op die internet. Die inligting was in skoonteks / rou formaat en moes met moeite omskep word, met pasgemaakte programmering and data manipulasie tegnieke, tot ‘n elektroniese formaat wat ingelees kan word tot genealogiese toepassings (raadpleeg die “Our Work So Far” bladsy vir meer inligting).
Daarna het ons ‘n inligting en fotos met die hand bygevoeg wat my pa, Jan (B3C10D1E3F4G7H2I1), oor klomp jare versamel het. Dit is ‘n onklaarbare werk.
